Coverage of Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame 2024

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Broadcast journalists across Georgia are being inducted into the Georgia Association of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame on Friday morning.

WRBL’s own Teresea Whitaker is one of five inductees. The remaining four broadcasters include:

Lee Burger – WBHF-AM in Cartersville
Kim Gusby – WSAV-TV in Savannah
Lorenzo “Lo” Jelks – WSB-TV in Atlanta
John Wetherbee – Georgia News Network

Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket will take a crew to suborbital space for the first time in nearly two years later this month, the company announced on Tuesday. The NS-25 mission will launch from Blue’s launch site in West Texas on May 19. The launch window opens at 8:30 a.m. The six-person crew includes Ed Dwight, the first Black astronaut candidate (but for whom this would be the first visit to space), along with investor Mason Angel, who founded the space- and defense-focused Industrious Ventures.

Around 550 employees across autonomous vehicle company Motional have been laid off, according to information taken from WARN notice filings and sources at the company. Earlier this week, TechCrunch reported that Motional is pausing commercial operations and delaying plans to launch a robotaxi service with its next-gen Hyundai Ioniq 5 robotaxis until 2026 as it undergoes restructuring.
