Watch Evangeline Lilly's heroine pull off canny car tricks in this 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' clip (exclusive)

Some of the Avengers may be dust in the wind following Avengers: Infinity War, but at least one of Marvel’s mighty heroes seems to have emerged from that cataclysm unscathed: Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. Of course, because the diminutive hero wasn’t a part of the comic-book icons’ battle against Thanos (Josh Brolin), we’re not 100 percent sure what happened with Rudd’s wisecracking do-gooder. Hopefully, though, we’ll get clues when Ant-Man and the Wasp — which is set, for the most part, before Infinity War — debuts in theaters next week. Ahead of that premiere, we have the exclusive first clip from the upcoming summer blockbuster.

In the action scene, above, Rudd’s partner-in-heroism Hope van Dyne, aka the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), and his buddy Luis (Michael Peña) find themselves fleeing criminals led by Walton Coggins’s Sonny Burch through the streets of San Francisco. Although a vehicular chase wouldn’t seem to exactly benefit Lilly’s character, whose powers are given to her by her supersuit, it turns out that she’s now the proud owner of a vehicle that can change its size on a dime. That means she can evade her adversaries by driving underneath them (as a de facto Matchbox car) and then surprise them — in a distinctly forceful way — by returning to normal dimensions at just the right moment. Given what we’ve seen in prior trailers — Pez, anyone? — that’s not the only trick that Wasp has up her sleeve during this chase sequence.
