WATCH: Driver falls asleep at wheel, sends road sign flying

FORT DODGE, Iowa (WJW) – A shocking video shows the moment a driver fell asleep at the wheel and sent a road sign flying into the air in Iowa.

In a video released by the Iowa Department of Transportation on X, a pickup truck is seen veering on the roadway on U.S. Route 20 and ramming into a road sign on April 9.

“SO Scary! This driver on US-20 near Fort Dodge fell asleep at the wheel. The police report says the driver wasn’t impaired, just tired and driving late at night,” the caption of the video said on X.

The Iowa Department of Transportation said on X that the driver was okay after the crash.

“Please stay alert if you’re going to get behind the wheel!” the X post said.
