Watch this California boy lose it while unwrapping an avocado for Christmas

It’s always exciting to unwrap a gift you yearned to get.

But usually that gift isn’t an avocado — which is what a little boy in Northern California’s Humboldt County opened for Christmas this year. His mother, Winnie Mereb, captured his adorable, overjoyed reaction on video.

“Merry Christmas!” Mereb wrote in a Facebook post on Christmas Day sharing the clip. “Hope you all got what you wanted for Christmas like Emanuel did.”

His plans with the avocado now? Mereb, who lives in Cutten, surmised that 4-year-old Emanuel is unlikely to eat the piece of produce, the Lost Coast Outpost reported.

“He still doesn’t want to eat it, he just wants to have an avocado,” Mereb said, per the Outpost.

Mereb said the gift has been on her son’s list for awhile.

“It started at the beginning of December when I told him and his brother to work on their Christmas letters for Santa and he told me he just wanted an avocado,” Mereb told McClatchy News. “Not sure why, he just said, ‘because it looks yummy.’”

That’s not to say it’s his favorite food.

Mereb said, “I don’t recall him eating anything with avocado as he is really picky with food.”

But he wouldn’t let the dream go.

“He kept bringing it up so I decided to wrap up an avocado for him for Christmas,” Mereb said.

He’s not alone in celebrating simple gifts this holiday season: Just before Christmas, video showing a 2-year-old girl joyously opening a banana went viral — and her reaction was even cuter considering that the present was supposed to be a prank, USA Today reported.

“I didn’t think she would get excited for this,” said her father Justice Mojica, according to USA Today. “We knew that she was really grateful, but we were really taken back.”
