WATCH: Alleged New York Thief Steals $1.6 Million in Gold Flakes from Back of Truck

This alleged thief hit the jackpot.

On Sept. 29, an unidentified man was seen on surveillance video allegedly stealing a bucket believed to be filled with gold flakes worth $1.6 million from the back of an unattended armored truck in Manhattan, according to multiple reports.

The NYPD tweeted surveillance video of the alleged theft of the five-gallon bucket. In the video, the man can be seen lumbering down a busy midtown Manhattan street in broad daylight with the metal bucket, which weighed approximately 86 pounds, stopping at one point to set it down on a street corner so he could briefly rest.

Police say the alleged thief was able to take the pot of gold when he noticed that the back of the truck was open, with no one in sight, reports say. The New York Times reports that police said the driver had gone into the cab to retrieve something.

The truck was parked in front of 48 West 48th St. between 5th and 6th avenues, near Rockefeller Center.

Two men can be seen talking in front of the truck as the alleged thief takes off with the gold.

Police say it took the man almost an hour to lug the heavy bucket to Third Avenue, Time reports.

The NYPD is still looking for the suspect, whom they believe has gone to Florida, according to multiple reports.

He is described as a Hispanic male about 5′ 6″ inches tall, 150 pounds and between 50 and 60 years old, according to the NYPD’s tweet.
