WATCH: Alleged drunk driver seen on I-90 dragging bumper, riding on rim

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (WJW) — Police officers on the night shift see some strange things sometimes.

A Rocky River officer came across a driver on Interstate 90 West with her car’s entire bumper dragging on the ground.

But that wasn’t all: The right-rear tire was flat and the driver was riding on the rim.

The car was spotted near the Lakewood border back on Feb. 24, where the officer was helping Lakewood police with another call.

The driver was finally pulled over near the Clague Road exit and told officers that she was heading to the east side of Cleveland — miles away from where she was driving and in the wrong direction.

The driver claimed that the damage happened when her daughter was involved in a crash earlier in the day, but police suspected something else.

After field sobriety tests, officers determined that the woman was under the influence and charged her with impaired driving.

Rocky River’s police chief said the officer’s quick action probably prevented someone from getting injured if the bumper had come loose at high speed.
