Washington in talks with partners who could supply Patriots to Ukraine — Secretary Austin

The United States is negotiating with several countries that operate U.S.-made Patriot air defense system to arrange their transfer to Ukraine, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said on April 30.
During a briefing at the U.S. Congress, Austin stressed that air defense is a priority for Ukraine in light of the regular Russian missile attacks
“There are countries that possess Patriots; we continue our negotiations with these countries,” said Austin.
“I personally spoke with leaders of several nations over the past two weeks, urging them to relinquish [Patriot systems] or provide more resources.”

On April 13, Germany announced that it would provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot battery to repel Russian airstrikes.
On April 17, Dutch PM Mark Rutte stated that the European Union could buy Patriot systems from countries that own them but are unwilling to transfer them to Ukraine.
On April 23, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine and the United States are negotiating to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with four Patriot systems from several countries.
