Washington Street closed Tuesday for opening of maternal health hub

PETERSBURG — If you venture downtown anytime Tuesday, be prepared for a motorist headache for the majority of the day.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Washington Street between Adams and Market streets will be closed to vehicular traffic while the city opens a maternal health hub at 22 W. Washington St. as part of the Partnership for Petersburg initiative. Among the guest speakers for the event are Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Rep. Jennifer McClellan, D-Virginia. The eent begins at 1:30 p.m.

The center will be operated by Richmond-based nonprofit Urban Baby Beginnings.

The road will remain closed until 6 p.m. Signs will be in place rerouting traffic.
