Washington Parish deputies arrest man in connection with kidnapping case

WASHIGNTON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Washington Parish deputies announced that a man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping case on Monday, April 22.
The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office reported there was a heavy law enforcement presence at Highway 16 near the Skeet Club, Bogue Chitto State Park area, Bonner Creek and Highway 25 on Monday afternoon.

Residents were advised to avoid the areas and to keep an eye out for a person of interest, identified as 37-year-old James Ballard, who police said was “considered dangerous.”
WPSO officials later announced that Louisiana Probation and Parole Tactical Team agents found Ballard at Bogue Chitto State Park and took him into custody.
According to the WPSO, Ballard was found lying in a ditch and “swiftly surrendered by raising his hands, facilitating his seamless apprehension.”
The investigation is ongoing, and “charges from today’s incident will be brought forth from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
The WPSO did not release additional information.
