Washington has indefinitely suspended linebacker Azeem Victor.

The suspension, which stems from a Sunday morning DUI arrest, was announced Wednesday by Huskies coach Chris Petersen.

“We take these matters very seriously, and have suspended Azeem from our team indefinitely as we continue to gather details about this incident,” Petersen said in a statement.

The Seattle Times is reporting that Victor was booked for DUI at 4:16 a.m. Sunday morning. No other details were immediately available.

Victor was suspended for the season opener for violating team rules.

Victor, a senior, has 30 tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks in nine games this season. He has mainly been playing outside linebacker, recently in a reserve role, and has had a significant drop-off in production compared to his time at middle linebacker.

As the team’s starter in the middle, Victor had 67 tackles in 10 games in 2016 and was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection, despite missing the final three games of the year with a broken leg. He also had 95 tackles in 13 games in 2015.

Washington dropped to 8-2 (5-2 Pac-12) on the year with a loss at Stanford last Friday. The Huskies host Utah on Saturday night.
