Washington Fire District Warns About Dangers of Downed Power Lines in Snow

A fire district in Port Angeles, Washington, shared striking video on February 13, demonstrating the dangers posed by power lines downed by tree branches during snowfall.

This video, shared by Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue, shows three smoking holes in a large mound of snow, through which flame can be seen.

“Here the line is buried in the snow after the branch took the line down,” the caption read. “Unknown to those who pass by the electricity can reach out hundreds of feet electrocuting anyone nearby.” Credit: Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue via Storyful
