Warmth in Utah well above average for now — changes to come

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Tuesday, Utah! For most, it will be a terrific Tuesday weather-wise across the state, with above average temperatures under a mix of sun and clouds!

Outside of the mountains, highs will range in the 60s and 70s up north while southern Utah mainly sees 70s and 80s. Along the Wasatch Front, we’ll mainly be in the mid 70s while some — mainly in Utah County — push upper 70s.

Above-average warmth holds in Utah through the midweek

Skies will be dry for most of the state, however, a few isolated showers and rumbles can’t be ruled out in northern Utah this afternoon and evening.

Midweek won’t bring many changes from what we find today, with temperatures that run about 10 to 15 degrees above average under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Along the Wasatch Front with a southerly flow, there’s a chance we will hit 80 degrees again.

By Thursday, we’ll be moving into a much more active pattern. The first of a couple of storms will move in on Thursday and will bring a good chance of scattered showers across northern Utah as daytime highs ease down by about 10 degrees from what we get tomorrow.

A stronger system arrives Friday into Saturday. This system will send in a cold front which will drop temperatures even more with a chance of showers statewide. Even with temperatures dropping below seasonal norms, we’ll mainly see valley rain and mountain snow with the bulk of the snow staying above 7,000 feet.

There is a silver lining to incoming wet weather for allergy sufferers. We’ve had a prolonged period of high pollen counts over the last couple of weeks, but wet weather can help clean out the air and reset pollen levels to be a little more tolerable.

Showers will remain possible on Saturday on what will be another cool day. From the end of the weekend into early next week, we’ll begin to dry things out and warm back up. By Monday, temperatures could be running about five degrees above average, with highs near 70 along the Wasatch Front while St. George returns to the low 80s.
