Warm weather and sunshine marks the first day of May in Chicagoland

It's a sparkling start to May throughout Chicagoland. Wednesday dawned warm, with temperatures well into the 60s in most areas for the morning commute. As noon approached, temps ranged from the upper 60s west of the city to the lower 70s in Northwest Indiana, which is anywhere from five to 15 degrees warmer than the same time Tuesday. Southwest winds that continue to bring in the warm air will become a little more westerly as Wednesday progresses, with gusts topping 30 miles per hour in some areas. It will stay dry and mainly sunny Wednesday, with the next system that's moving in expected to impact Chicagoland overnight Wednesday into Thursday, with a better chance for showers Thursday afternoon.
