Happy Monday!

We had a beautiful, breezy weekend in Central Ohio, and that doesn’t end quite yet! For our Monday, expect highs to warm back into the lower 80s, with a slight breeze. We won’t be quite as gusty as we were over the weekend. We’ll start the morning with sunshine, then clouds will gradually increase. A cold front then brings showers and thunderstorms tonight, between about 8 PM and midnight, and continuing through Tuesday morning.

Showers will gradually taper Tuesday morning and into the early afternoon, eventually exiting to the southeast. Highs drop back to the lower 70s Tuesday, and clouds gradually break late in the day.

For Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll be looking at mainly sunny skies, with highs in the lower 80s Wednesday, and mid 80s for Thursday. We’ll be looking at an isolated sprinkle chance, but overall mainly dry.

Our next system moves in Friday, and brings showers and thunderstorms that linger overnight and into the start of Saturday.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud computing business, has confirmed further details of its European "sovereign cloud," which is designed to enable greater data residency across the region. The company said that the first AWS sovereign cloud region will be set up in the German state of Brandenburg, and will go live by the end of 2025. AWS added that it plans to invest €7.8 billion ($8.5 billion) in the facility through 2040.

Intuitive Machines wants to help NASA return samples from Mars
Intuitive Machines is looking to help reshape the Mars Sample Return mission architecture with its own technology, based on architecture it has been developing for the moon, executives told investors during a quarterly earnings call Tuesday. “Intuitive Machines has engaged the agency and intends to provide a solution set based on technology architecture we have been developing for lunar material return,” Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus said. The Mars Sample Return (MSR) program is the agency’s $11 billion, 15-year mission to collect and return samples from the red planet, but NASA administrators finally admitted last month that the architecture had become too complex and too expensive.

Google is building its Gemini Nano AI model into Chrome on the desktop
At the Google I/O 2024 developer conference on Tuesday, Google announced that it is building Gemini Nano, the smallest of its AI models, directly into the Chrome desktop client, starting with Chrome 126. Google itself plans to use this new capability to power features like the existing "help me write" tool from Workspace Lab in Gmail, for example.
