6PM Weather Update:

Columbus, Ga (WRBL)- Tracking a few pop up storms for the start of the week, but most of the energy will remain off to our north across portions of North Georgia and Tennessee. Plus, all eyes are on the Great Plains where a High Risk (Level 5/5) has been issued for this afternoon. Portions of Oklahoma and Kansas are already seeing severe weather this evening and those storms will continue to ramp up overnight.

For us, the next few days will be calm but breezy. Wind gusts will reach up to 20mph at times Tuesday afternoon and again Wednesday. Readings will warm into the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.

A strong cold front will start to push through the southeast Thursday making us WEATHER AWARE that evening. This front has the potential to bring strong to severe storms Thursday evening through Friday morning. There is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the timing and intensity of these storms.

Behind this cold front, readings will drop significantly. Friday afternoon, temperatures will only warm into the lower 80s. Expect upper 70s by Saturday.
