The West cannot allow Russia to win the war against Ukraine and must do more to support Ukrainians, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said on April 11 in an interview with Canada’s CBC TV.

Attal agreed with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who previously said that Europe is currently in pre-war times.

France will continue to help Ukraine, the French top-official assured, because Russia's victory will bring war to the European Union.

"We see the war gradually coming back to the European continent,” said Attal.

“Many people believed that Ukraine would not be able to resist the aggressor two years ago, when Russian full-scale invasion began; however, we have seen the resistance of Ukrainians — they are very brave. To a large extent, this became possible thanks to EU support for Ukraine."

Russia’s entire economy is already on war footing, the French PM noted — and the EU is aware of the threat.

He named Poland as the next possible target of the Russians in the event of their victory in Ukraine, and therefore Western partners — in particular, France, Canada, and the EU — should help the Ukrainians more actively.

"We should do much more,” Attal said.

“We have had a crucial meeting with many world leaders recently, in which Canada took part. The July NATO summit in Washington will also be paramount for our continued support to Ukraine. Russia cannot be allowed to win this war."
