Wapos Restaurant in north Boulder suffers 'significant' damage in fire

Jun. 30—Wapos Restaurant in north Boulder suffered "significant damage" after a fire Thursday.

Firefighters were called to Wapos, 4929 Broadway, at 12:15 p.m. Thursday when smoke began coming from the business, according to a press release.

The building was occupied by employees at the time of the fire, but they all safely evacuated and there were no reported injuries.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found a fire in the roof of the building. They were able to put the fire out, but the building suffered "significant damage."

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Boulder County Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team.

Emergency crews closed Broadway between U.S. 36 and Lee Hill Drive while crews were on scene.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District, Boulder Fire-Rescue, Mountain View Fire Department, Louisville Fire Department, Boulder Police Department and Boulder Emergency Squad all responded to the call.
