Walking Dead star responds to that Gabriel fan theory
It feels like Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) have been in that trailer FOREVER on The Walking Dead.
The promo for the next episode 'The Big Scary U' has shown us that we'll finally see Gabriel and Negan for the first time since the season eight premiere, so it's perhaps no surprise that the fan theory about the two of them has resurfaced.
Fans have been questioning why Gabriel didn't try to kill Negan as soon as he saw he was trapped in the trailer with him, leading some fans to question Gabriel's loyalty again after he has betrayed Rick and co in the past – but not recently.
However, that hasn't stopped fans thinking that Gabriel is the mole that has been telling Negan all of Rick's plans, so Gilliam has been busy defending his character's actions.
"I just think Gabriel's a bad shot. I think that's about as deep as it gets. He couldn't hit the ocean if he was standing on the side of a boat and leapt. That's alright. It just means that he can't shoot," he told ComicBook.com.
"It doesn't mean that he's in cahoots [with Negan]. I've heard some things about in cahoots – which would be an interesting story twist, by the way, in an alternative universe – but I don't really see that happening."
The teaser for episode five doesn't see Negan attack Gabriel at all, but it does see him tell Gabriel: "A lot of folks are gonna die in there because I'm not there to stop it."
Is he blaming Gabriel for everything that happened? If so, it could still mean the theory holds true and Negan is just pissed at Gabriel for not telling him everything about Rick's masterplan which, to be fair, we still don't fully get.
The Walking Dead continues on Sunday (November 19) on AMC in the US, with FOX and NOW TV airing the show a day later in the UK.
