'The Walking Dead' recap: Rick and Daryl fight, Negan and Gabriel confess

“The Big Scary U” episode of The Walking Dead was all about relationships. Particularly the budding relationship between Negan and Father Gabriel, who was just trying to do the Lord’s work.

While trapped in a trailer with Negan, Gabriel had an epiphany: “I think I’m here to take your confession.”

At first Negan wasn’t in the mood, saying, “I don’t have s*** to confess. Except maybe the fact that I rubbed one out right where you’re sitting just to calm down a bit.”

But after Gabriel locked himself in the closet and refused to leave until Negan confessed, the maniacal leader said, “My first wife was a real wife. My only real wife. Till death did us part. It was before this. I lied to her, I screwed around on her. And she was sick. And when she went… When she went, it was during this. I couldn’t put her down. That is how I was weak.”

Gabriel absolved Negan’s sin, saying “You are forgiven.” In response, Negan punch Gabriel in the face, saying, “Thanks.”

While all that was going on, Rick and Daryl were told by a dying Savior that Carol, Ezekiel, and the entire Kingdom had been killed. Frustrated by the situation, Daryl decides to take the new explosives and blow up the Sanctuary.

Rick strongly disagrees with Daryl. Rick believes that killing innocent workers will just make the situation worse. Ultimately their disagreement turned into a fist fight.

Rick threw the explosives back in the Humvee, and while Daryl was choking him out, the explosives caught fire and they had to run for it.

Afterward Rick was annoyed with Daryl for using a chokehold, as that goes against the rules. Daryl didn’t care and he left Rick to his own devices.

Rick hike toward what appeared to be a Scavengers’ camp. And as he approached, a helicopter flew overhead.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
