Wake-Up Weather: dry-line and cold front duo bridging the gap for severe weather

Thursday, May 9th, 2024

Summary:

Yesterday we managed to get through the day with storms to our east. Today, we have a better chance for central and eastern counties to see some strong to severe storms. A stationary front and dry-line will create some lift on top off moisture and good shear with a very good amount of potential energy. Thunderstorms that do develop will likely become strong/severe quickly especially out east. Stay weather aware today BEFORE/NEAR the LUNCH HOUR.

Friday we see cloud cover increase with a chance for some light showers as temperatures fall below average. Then heading into this weekend we continue to monitor the chance for flooding with rounds of showers and thunderstorms possible.

Today: Mostly sunny with a stationary front over the region building a chance for storms later the afternoon to the east. High Temperature: 86° Winds: NNE 5-10 MPH

Tonight: Cloud cover increase with seasonal temperatures and a light breeze. Low Temperature: 60° Winds: NE 10-15 G 20 MPH
