New waiting lot at Lafayette airport looks to alleviate traffic for pickup
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — There is a new waiting area at the Lafayette Regional Airport for drivers waiting to pick up passengers.
When drivers arrive, they can stay right as if they are going toward the pickup areas. As they get closer, the lot will be on the right where they can pull into one of the 20 available spots to wait for the text or call that their loved one or passenger is ready to be picked up.
St. Landry Parish increases pay for short-term substitute teachers
Quincy Lewis says he normally has an issue when he comes to pick people up, and this parking lot now makes everything easier.
“Very convenient. You get to watch the flight come down,” Lewis said. “We used to have to come here and circle all the way around.”

The lot looks to alleviate any type of traffic which normally piled up by pick-up areas. LFT Executive Director Steven Picou says this was a necessary addition to the facility.
“We anticipate it’s going to really help, particularly in front of the terminal where you’re not going to have the continuous loop and you’re not going to have pedestrians with vehicles going by their continuous looping,” Picou said.
Picou wants to remind everyone using this lot to please remain in your vehicle as you are waiting for your car. They say they do not want to have to tow, but they must keep the lot open for everyone.
