W.Va. man pleads guilty after theft, hit-and-run

Mar. 8—CATLETTSBURG — Victims of a hit-and-run and stolen property want to see a 34-year-old West Virginia man attend long-term rehab for treatment, according to Boyd County Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Kierston Rosen.

Appearing via video from the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, West Virginia, Arlan Hodge III, of Breeden, entered a guilty plea in Boyd County Circuit Court Thursday to several charges stemming from a wild incident on Aug. 4, 2023.

Hodge said he's guilty of first-degree wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, receiving stolen property and other traffic violations.

According to Rosen, Hodge was driving erratically through the Burger King parking lot in Cannonsburg when he side-swiped a vehicle. He fled the scene. No one was injured.

Hodge will serve a five-year probated sentence during which he must enter a long-term substance abuse treatment program. He can have zero contact with the victims of the crimes. The court also ordered him to pay $500 restitution over the course of five months.
