W.Va. gas industry hosts 'community education day'
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) — The natural gas industry is hosting a Community Education Day and two other events this week at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.
On Wednesday night, the Just Beneath the Surface Alliance and the Independent Oil and Gas Association will show "Truthland," the industry's counterpoint to the critical HBO documentary "Gasland."
The alliance is funded by IOGA and was created to counter what the industry says are false claims and attacks.
On Thursday, there's an equipment show and a Community Education Day.
The event is open-house style, and industry representatives will host informational booths on horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, economics and more.
