VW could soon have an emissions fix for 3.0-litre engines

About 85,000 owners of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche 3.0-litre diesel engines could soon be offered with a fix to remedy the ongoing emission problem in the US.
Unlike VW owners of the 2.0-litre motor that are slated to be bought back by the brand, drivers of the affected 3.0-litre diesel engines have not had a similar solution as of now. However, reports have revealed that VW may be proposing a fix for vehicles equipped with the 3.0-litre engines by installing a new software. In addition to this, the car maker will offer to fit a new catalytic convertor on these cars.
An Audi spokesperson Mark Clothier, said “We are cooperating with the regulatory agencies and working with them on an approved solution. Beyond that, we cannot comment on the ongoing investigations.“ A list of affected cars include the 2014 Volkswagen Touareg, 2015 Porsche Cayenne and the 2016 Audi A6, A7, A8, A8L and Q5. Volkswagen is expected to make a formal announcement in this regard at the time they reveal information about the buyback strategy for the afflicted 2.0-litre cars sometime next month.
