VPRJ holds re-entry resource fair for inmates

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail recently hosted a re-entry fair for inmates.

The event featured organizations and agencies that assist formerly incarcerated persons with housing, employment and services that are routinely difficult for them to gain access to.

“I am extremely proud of VPRJ staff and the collaborative efforts of all agencies involved resulting in yet another successful re-entry fair,” said Superintendent Colonel Roy Witham of the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. “I am looking forward to our next opportunity to host this important event.”

Organizations in attendance included James City County Housing, James City County Social Services, Colonial Behavioral Health, City of Newport News Human Resources and other agencies that provide information on how to obtain low-cost or emergency housing for transitioning inmates.
