Here were the nominees for this week's poll:

  • Ava Dorris, Bethany: Ava is in the top 5% of her class and she is the senior class president. Bethany Principal David Jewell said Dorris was also a member of Bethany's 2023 girls basketball state title team and a member of the state finalist volleyball team.

  • Luke Gray, Oklahoma Christian School: The OCS senior is a standout on the basketball court and in the classroom. Gray just broke the OCS boys' basketball team's all-time scoring record. Gray's school counselor, Sherry Sage, said he "consistently is able to recollect concepts from junior English in class which shows how he learned and has retained knowledge year to year." Sage said Gray also volunteers answers in class almost every day, and he participates in discussion. "He is a positive leader both in class and in his sports," Sage said.

  • Isaac Green, Pauls Valley: Green, a sophomore, maintains a 4.0 GPA, is a member of the high school academic team, the NAPT academic team and the freshman and sophomore academic team. Green is also on the cross country and tennis teams and is the sophomore class president. "(Green's) outstanding achievements speak to his diligence, his academic curiosity, his self-driven high standards and his motivation," said Benjamin Clark, an English teacher at Pauls Valley. "What his achievements do not illustrate, however, is his kindness. He is one of the kindest kids I have had the pleasure to know in almost 32 years of teaching."

  • Caleb Houston, Piedmont: Piedmont principal Steve Spears nominated Houston, a senior who got a perfect score on his ACT and has qualified as a National Merit finalist.

  • Lanesa King, Crooked Oak: Principal Laura Knight said King, a sophomore, was instrumental in getting the school's Air Force Junior ROTC program ready for a major inspection while taking concurrent classes and maintaining a 4.0 GPA. "She is a positive leader in everything that she does," Knight said.

  • Grady Lesperance, El Reno: Counselor Garland Delk said Lesperance, a senior, is an excellent student and athlete. "With that being said, he is even a greater young man involved in the FFA, his church and his community," Delk said. Delk also said Lesperance is a proven leader and an example for others to follow.
