Below are the nominees for The Herald’s high school athlete of the week.

Kyleen Bents, Catawba Ridge girls’ soccer: The Copperheads’ senior scored six goals in a 13-0 win over South Pointe, March 8.

Bents also had a goal in a 3-0 victory over Fort Mill, March 5.

Catawba Ridge (6-3) also lost 2-1 at Charlotte Latin, March 4.

Bents, an East Carolina commit, has 13 goals for Catawba Ridge this season.

Ka’Mora Brown, Lancaster girls’ track: The Bruins’ sophomore ran personal best times to finish second-place in both the 100-meter dash (12.79) and 200-meter dash (27.17) at the Camden Bulldog Invitational, March 8.

Brown also ran a personal-record 1:05.57 to finish seventh-place in the 400 dash and helped the 400 relay to a fifth-place finish at the same meet.

Brown accounted for 22 of the Bruins’ 27 points at the Bulldog Invitational.

Hannah Davis, Buford girls’ soccer: The Yellow Jackets’ junior forward scored one goal in a 6-0 win at Chester, March 5.

The next day, Davis scored four goals and had one assist in an 8-0 victory over the Governor’s School.

Davis has nine goals and four assists for Buford (6-1-1) this season.

Waverleigh Hash, York Prep girls’ soccer: The Patriots’ junior scored one goal and had two assists in a 4-0 win over York, March 5.

Hash also scored four goals and had one assist in a 15-0 victory at North Central, March 7.

York Prep is 6-1-1 overall this season.

Jackson Hunter, Buford boys’ soccer: The Yellow Jackets’ junior scored one goal in a 2-1 win over Lancaster, March 5.

Hunter also scored three goals in a 7-1 win over Cheraw, March 7.

Hunter accounted for both goals, with a score and assist as Buford tied the Governor’s School in regulation before losing 4-3 in a shootout, March 8.

Buford is 3-4 overall this season.

Jackie Knol, Nation Ford softball: The Falcons’ freshman catcher went 1-for-2 at the plate with a grand-slam, home run and two walks to lead Nation Ford to a 7-6 win over Dorman, March 8.

Knol was also 3-for-4 at the plate in a 12-0 win at Northwestern, March 4.

Knol is batting .429 with seven RBI for Nation Ford (4-1) this season.

Douglas McMaster, Rock Hill boys’ golf: The Bearcats’ freshman shot a two-over par, 38, to earn medalist honors with one birdie and five pars in his round in nine-hole match with Nation Ford at Lancaster Golf Club, March 7. The Nation Ford boys’ golf team won by 22 shots.

McMaster became the first Rock Hill golfer to earn medalist honors in a match in over three years.

O.T. Mitchell, Catawba Ridge boys’ golf: The Copperheads’ senior shot an even par, 36, to earn medalist honors while leading the Catawba Ridge boys’ golf team to a 15-shot win over Clover at Fort Mill Golf Club, March 4.

The next day, Mitchell shot a five-under par, 31, including four birdies and an eagle, to lead

Catawba Ridge to a 30-shot victory over Northwestern at Fort Mill Golf Club.

Irie Morton, Northwestern girls’ track: The Trojans’ freshman set a school-record, throwing a 91-1.75 to win the javelin in her first high school meet at the Trojans’ Relays on her home track, March 8.

Morton also had personal-best throw to finish third in the discus (91-10.25) and sixth in the shot put (28-9.75) at the same meet.

Rory Nowicki, Fort Mill boys’ soccer: The Yellow Jackets’ junior had three assists in a 7-0 win at South Pointe, March 7.

Fort Mill (4-4-1) also lost 3-2 to Catawba Ridge, March 5.

Nowicki had one goal and four assists for Fort Mill this season.

Tyler Rosario, Legion Collegiate saseball: The Lancers’ senior had two hits, including a grand-slam, home run with five RBI to lead Legion Collegiate to a 20-0 win over SouthLake Christian, March 8.

Rosario, a Gaston College commit, has helped Legion Collegiate to a 4-1-1 start this season.

Georgia Sharpless, Nation Ford girls’ lacrosse: The Falcons’ senior midfielder scored five goals, had three assists, six groundballs, three caused turnovers and six draw controls in an 18-9 win at Ardrey Kell, March 5.

Sharpless also scored a goal, had five assists, five groundballs, three caused turnovers and five draw controls in a 23-4 win at Spring Valley, March 7.

Sharpless has nine goals, 18 assists, 17 groundballs, eight caused turnovers and 24 draw controls for Nation Ford (4-2) this season.
