Vote to help Waynesville Soda Jerks land "Coolest Things Made in NC" award

Sep. 8—The Waynesville Soda Jerks is a semifinalist in the N.C. Chamber of Commerce's "Coolest Things Made in NC" contest — and making it to the next level is now up to the fans.

An online voting process runs through Sept. 15, and Soda Jerks must get enough votes daily to make it to the next round. Each day, a few companies with the least number of votes that day are cut.

Waynesville Soda Jerks is the only company in WNC among the 30 semi-finalists. The craft-made soda company was started in the basement apartment of Pisgah grads Chris Allen and Megan Brown 10 years ago. The success of their product led to multiple expansions, and Waynesville Soda Jerks bottles are now found on shelves and coolers across WNC, including their signature Blueberry Basil, Strawberry Rhubarb and Apple Rosemary to name a few.

"We would greatly appreciate any help to make this happen," said Megan Brown, the company co-owner. "We would love to represent Waynesville, Haywood County and WNC with this statewide recognition and award."

To vote, go to coolestthingmadeinnc.com. The winning product will be revealed on Thursday, Oct. 5, the day before National Manufacturing Day.

"This year's products really run the gamut including vaccines, food products, bagpipes, jets, and much more," said NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido. "We are so grateful to the entire manufacturing community — the backbone of our state's economy for more than a century.
