Volkswagen Polo facelift spotted on test in Mumbai

Volkswagen is preparing to launch a refreshed version of the Polo hatchback. A test mule of this facelifted car was spotted testing in Mumbai recently.
The facelifted Polo will get a new avatar similar to the 2016 Vento that was showcased at the Auto Expo last month. The spyshots show that the Polo gets LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and a slightly modified bumper. The car might also get projector headlamps and restyled tail lamps. As Volkswagen had recently updated the interior of the Polo, there may or might not be some additional equipment in the cabin.
This facelifted VW Polo is most likely to carry over the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options from the existing car. On the other hand, we can expect the GT TDi to get a tweaked diesel engine with a locally-sourced bigger turbocharger to take up the power output to 110bhp.
Looking at Volkswagen’s India portfolio of cars, which is getting such updates, the cosmetic changes to the Polo don’t come as a surprise. The manufacturer has reworked the external appearance of this upcoming car that will add to the appeal of the hatchback. The mechanical changes should also be welcomed by Indian buyers as the last update to the Polo was done in 2014 when the 1.5-litre diesel mill was introduced.
