'Voice' contestant defies the odds while two more artists are sent home

Once again, Adam Cunningham defied the odds and avoided elimination on The Voice. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Adam, who has been in the bottom two twice now and has surprisingly been saved by America both times. But this week, America decided to vote for Adam before the show started, and he and Adam Levine were pretty happy about it.

What made it even more shocking was that there were two people being sent home this week, so three of the contestants had to sing to be saved. Miley Cyrus‘s country rocker, Ashland Craft, and two of Jennifer Hudson‘s team members, Shi’ann Jones and Davon Fleming, ended up in the bottom three. While it was emotional for all of them, Jennifer Hudson had an inspiring message for everybody. “Take it from me. I was eliminated seventh,” Hudson told them, “But that didn’t mean it was over. You get to determine when it is over, no one else. And that goes for everyone.”

For the performances, Ashland held back her tears while singing “Tonight I Wanna Cry” by Keith Urban. Shi’ann was hoping not to come in last as she performed “At Last” by Etta James. And Davon was hoping there “Ain’t No Way” he was going home after his killer Aretha Franklin performance. That performance sealed the deal for Davon, as he was instantly saved by America.
