Vittsjo GIK have secured the services of Nigeria defender Josephine Chukwunonye and striker Ngozi Okobi for an undisclosed fee.
The Nigerian pair who impressed playing part in the Super Falcons' Fifa Women's World Cup campaign in Canada last year teamed up with the Swedish outfit after brief spell at Washington Spirit.
Chukwunonye and Okobi joined their compatriot Francisca Ordega at Washington Spirit last June but dumped the US outfit for the Damallsvenskan side in Sweden.
Chukwunonye who previously played for Rivers Angels and featured for the Super Falcons 13 times since 2011 Fifa Women's World Cup and was involved in all games in Canada, says she was full of joy joining Vittsjo GIK.
“I'm very happy moving to Sweden. it's an opportunity to showcase my talent to the world,” Okobi told Goal.
“I wish to thank everyone at Spirit for the chances given me. I am looking forward to a great season in Sweden,” the former Delta Queens said.
Okobi who played at all levels for Nigeria from the U17, U20 and senior level and she scored and provided two assists in Nigeria's 3-3 draw against Sweden in the last Women's World Cup, says 'it's a dream come true'.
“I am excited to join the Vittsjo family; it’s a thing of joy and a dream come true for me,” Chukwunonye told Goal.
“I am eager to prove myself and give my very best to propel the club to glory," she said.
The duo have joined another Nigerian pair of Nkem Ezurike and Ifeoma Dieke in pre-season training ahead of the new season slated to kick off in April against Kvarnsvedens IK.
