Virginia State Police investigating 2 separate fatal crashes in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Virginia State Police (VSP) said it’s investigating two separate fatal crashes that happened less than 20 minutes apart on Sunday morning.

Police said that at about 3:40 a.m., VSP troopers responded to a crash east of Exit 176 on I-495.

Officers said a person was changing a tire on a car when they were struck by a truck. The person died at the scene.

3 back-to-back crashes on I-395 leave 2 hurt, multiple cars damaged

The driver of the truck was transported to a hospital for treatment.

At about 3:50 a.m., Virginia State Police said they saw a woman on the road on I-495 near Exit 176.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman stumbled into traffic and was hit.

She died at the scene.
