When Claude Pepper was running for reelection to the senate in Florida his GOP opponent ran an add that Peppers sister was a Thespian and Pepper was proud of it. The voters were stunned that he was proud of his sisters choice. This was back in the 1950's or 60's and the voters voted Pepper out. They were to stupid to know that Thespian was an actor and not another word for Lesbian.
The commercial actually plays like something only an idiot could believe, which of course means a lot of people will believe it.
During his tenure as president of the United States from 1953 to 1961, Dwight D. “Ike” Eisenhower became the first American leader to ever have to deal with illegal immigration. “Ike” dealt with it quickly and decisively. Using only 1075 Border Patrol agents — less than 10 percent of today’s border force — he immediately sealed the porous border.“Ike” then set out to rid our nation of the three million illegals that were living and working among us. First he appointed retired Gen. Joseph “Jumpin’ Joe” Swing as commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).According to the CS Monitor, Swing stepped up to the plate by designing “Operation Wetback,” an initiative to send a combination of local/state officials and Border Patrol agents scouring through Mexican neighborhoods in search of illegals.Within a month of it being implemented by Attorney General Herbert Brownell in June 1954, “Operation Wetback” had resulted in the capture and deportation of 50,000 illegal immigrants. Another 488,000 had fled the country out of fear of being arrested.By September 1954, another 80,000 illegals had been forcibly removed from the state of Texas alone, while another 500,000 to 700,000 fled had voluntarily. And unlike contemporary illegals, these illegals were in no rush to return:
Mexicans caught in the roundup were not simply released at the border, where they could easily reenter the US. To discourage their return, Swing arranged for buses and trains to take many aliens deep within Mexico before being set free.Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried the aliens from Port Isabel, Texas, to Vera Cruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles south. The sea voyage was “a rough trip, and they did not like it,” says Don Coppock, who worked his way up from Border Patrolman in 1941 to eventually head the Border Patrol from 1960 to 1973.
The end result was that President Dwight Eisenhower managed to rid of us nearly three million illegal immigrants by using just a smidgen over 1000 Border Patrol agents.
So he flat out lies and Repugs will believe it, and accuse everyone else of believing fake news.
What? A tea person engaged in lying, race-baiting, fear-mongering, and hypocrisy? Gee, what took him so long?
Republican Sen. Ralph Shortey of Oklahoma City was charged with engaging in child prostitution, transporting a minor for prostitution and engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church.
An arrest warrant has been issued.
Police in Moore have said they're still investigating the circumstances surrounding a March 9 incident involving Shortey and a teenager. Police did not immediately return a phone call for further comment.
Police released a heavily redacted report that said a juvenile boy was found in a motel room with an adult male on March 9. The names of those in the room and the boy's age are redacted in the report.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Senate imposed sanctions Wednesday on Shortey, voting 43-0 for a resolution that accuses him of "disorderly behavior." Among other things, it removes Shortey from membership and leadership of various Senate committees, bars him from occupying his office and reserved parking spot at the Capitol, blocks his expense allowances and authorship of bills, and revokes his right to have an executive assistant.
Senate officials said Shortey will still receive his $38,400 annual salary as a senator and will be allowed to vote.
You mean to tell me that a Republican lied to win votes? The hell you say!
If you're swayed, either way, by television and radio ads, or too lazy to fact-check what politicians say during debates and interviews, then you should stop voting and let the grown-ups do the grown-up work.
More lies from the masters of deception and brainwashing.
wait a sec..is he the GOP dude that was anti-abortion but wanted his sex slave to have an abortion?
Old enough to be whatever I want
ANOTHER LYING REPUBLICAN putting down an opponent to gain office why not give them dueling pistols at dawn! maybe we will be lucky and neither will walk away
Immigration enforcement is a Federal responsibility and local law enforcement agencies have no legal means to enforce Federal Laws. It could create a bad jurisdictional precedent for all agencies involved.
