Virginia ranks No. 3 for financial literacy

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia ranks No. 3 on Financial Literacy based on 17 key metrics from a new study by WalletHub.

Virginia ranks No. 1 on for their high school financial literacy grade. Also, most households in Virginia have a bank account, with only 1.8% not having one. In other states, the percentage is between 2-11% on households without a bank account.

Men have a slightly higher literacy score than woman at 67.94% and women’s score sitting at 61.74%. The higher the income of an individual or household, the higher their scores seem to be. Married couples have highest score compared to other marital statuses.

Those between 55-64 tend to have higher scores than any other age group.
