The actor is attached to the title role of the forthcoming comedy co-produced by Seth Rogen, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Vince Vaughn is slated to play a Washington DC politician who becomes embroiled in a prostitution scandal. The character goes on the run from the FBI with his underachieving accomplice. Written by Matthew Bass and Theodore Bressman, the script was on the 2013 Black List, which catalogs the best undeveloped screenplays of the year.

"The Politician" will be directed by Michael Dowse. Discovered at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival through his mockumentary "Fubar," the Canadian helmer recently directed "What If," a romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoe Kazan.

Vaughn, who recently wrapped up on the set of Peter Billingsley's action comedy "Term Life," is rumored to be among the stars of "True Detective" season two. The HBO show's producers are expected to officially reveal the cast any day now.
