Village of Champlain to celebrate 150 years

Sep. 23—CHAMPLAIN — The Village of Champlain is celebrating its sesquicentennial anniversary today.

"We are excited to welcome everyone to a day of old-fashioned fun celebrating the 150th birthday of the Village of Champlain," Village Mayor Janet McFetridge said.

"Activities begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day with kids' crafts, food available, tours of the Samuel de Champlain History Center, a cornhole tournament, music by All Without the Bass, and a free ice cream social."

A business expo is also taking place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Champlain playground. At the same venue, refreshments will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a program will take place under the tent at 10 a.m.; and kid's activities will be held under the pavilion from 11 a.m. to noon.

The cornhole tournament is kicking off at noon at Bill Earl Park on River Street. The ice cream social and the concert will also be at this venue from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Samuel de Champlain History Center tours can be found at 202 Elm St.
