Vigil held in Stockton after devastating mass shooting that killed 3, injured 15 others

STOCKTON, Ala. (WKRG) — Members of the Stockton community held a vigil Wednesday night just days after a deadly shooting.

Long-time Stockton resident Kim Curry said the shooting was a complete devastation to the community.

“We are family,” she said. “It broke my heart to see that Saturday. Stockton is just not like that at all.”

Another local, Barbara Bryant, said it’s sad to see everyone so shaken but glad to see everyone come together.

“We are a small town,” Bryant said. “We don’t have a lot, but when things come down to the nitty gritty we stick together, and this just rocked us.”

Sharing the horror stories of what happened Saturday night.

“I had the opportunity to talk to my cousin who was shot in her foot Saturday, and the bullet went straight through her foot, and when she got to the hospital they put her on the floor because the place was like a war zone,” Curry said.

And remembering lives lost in the tragedy.

“It meant a lot to me because the young man deceased, I had him in class from the start,” Bryant said. “I’ve known his family, all a long time.”

A community united in grief.

“We can only go and move forward from here,” Curry said.
