‘The View’ Losing Candace Cameron Bure
It’s been more than a month since anyone has announced she was leaving The View. Candace Cameron Bure, returning to the show after a noticeable absence, fixed that this morning, revealing she’s following Raven-Symoné, who made that October announcement, out the door.
“I’m happy to be back,” Bure said of her return, then said she’s leaving. And yes, she said “bittersweet.”
Bure called it a “tough” decision, based on the success of her other, pre-View commitments, to Netflix’s Full House reboot Fuller House, and to the Hallmark Channel.
The bi-coastal commute has been “tough on me and hard for my family,” Bure said, then thanked various members of the daytime talker’s cast and crew.
“You were doing too much,” fellow The View panelist Joy Behar observed.
“I tried to be Superwoman, but I’m not,” Bure conceded.
“With all the sex talk we do [on the show] you missed your husband,” Den Mom Whoopi Goldberg chimed in. TMI.
The View EP Candi Carter, meanwhile, weighed in via a statement emailed to press, saying the show is “thrilled for her success with Fuller House and her Hallmark movies.”
Back in August, when The View announced Sara Haines had joined as new co-host of show for this season, joining returning Goldberg, Behar, Bure, Paula Faris and Raven-Symoné, Reporters Who Cover Television marveled it was one of the least dramatic season-to-season panelist sweep-outs of the topical daytime show’s past few seasons. They spoke too soon. The View cleverly waited until this fall to shed two more panelists.
