US school shooting: 20 children among 28 killed


20 children among were killed after a heavily armed gunman opened fire inside a Connecticut elementary school in the latest in a series of shooting rampages across the United States this year. The shooter who fired indiscriminately at students and staff was identified as 20-year-old Ryan Lanza. According to the New York Times, Lanza's mother, Nancy Lanza, was a teacher at the school and he walked up to her classroom loaded with two 9mm handguns and wearing all black, and opened fire. He first shot and killed his mother and then shot 20 students in the classroom before killing himself inside the school.
