Diane: Everyone who has not should grow for themselves just once their lifetime a tomatoe plant. Grow a little one in a pot somewhere. The difference in taste from the supermarket ones that are varieties that are grown to ship better is astounding. Same with cucumbers. They are soooo easy to grow, very prolific. If you can, make it your goal to have a garden next year, but start very small. You can do it in big pots. Show your children where food really comes from and let them help. Try dwarf or bush varieties if you don't have much room? Try square foot gardening. Support local farmers who raise food for good taste instead of its abilities to ship as tough as the cardboard they ship it in.
