Ruth G: American Jurisprudence
Today was the busiest Monday that I have had in a long time.
My first challenge was getting to the SOVA Food Pantry in West Los Angeles. You know I have not visited that area since 1985, thirty-one years. It has not really changed very much. It still a Jewish business area. I took the long way around to get there. The bus on Robertson #17 goes to Pico. But there are several ways to get there which are better because that bus runs only once an hour and not on week ends.
I strolled to La Cienega and caught the 105. This has become a very old part of the city. It is still a thriving community, even if many of the stores are no longer in business there.
I saw a place which is a showroom for Lambergini cars. The price of one of those little cars is astronomical at $250,000. I would be very interested to know why the economy in that Beverly Hills community is so healthy and wealthy and opulent. As a low- income person the economy interests me.
The idea came to me today that people and families and communities become rich by taking something intended to be used for the good of human kind, and perverting it to do evil, and cause problems and then charge fees for fixing the problems. In other words I think that they first cultivate a crop of evil. Then they take the fruits of that evil and turn fixing the problems into a multinational industry. Commerce is, how I think people become rich.
I wouldn't even know where to begin.
Drugs culture seems to be pervasive there just like every where else. You can see how it has been a devastating plague among people of color, ruining their mental and physical health. Absolutely a miracle is needed to return these physically and emotionally weakened and devastated people to vigor and vitality. They are dying too young and dying too fast. They suffer from too many serious and fatal health problem and medical science seem to lack not only the will and the way to stop the scourge so that we and they live out our lives fully to old age, and I mean very old age, and all of their and our mental faculties in tact, and all of our physiological and physical functions perfectly strong and full of vitality and vigor and health. We want the lift the scourge of death and dying and illness and sickness that has beset these communities of people who are actually punishing themselves and treading themselves and putting themselves down and even suiciding themselves and homiciding themselves, fratriciding themselves, and sororciding themselves, and matriciding themselves, and patriciding themselves and doing themselves bodily harm and injury just for being young and humans.
I saw yesterday that they had to be prevented from practicing this custom. These are dangers and sometimes fatal customs among the young in these communities in this part of town on the West Side in West Los Angeles, and in South Central Los Angeles. I saw one daring young man, hop down onto the train tracks, daring the train. These are dangerous ways of proving their manhood, these are very dangerous rites of passage in which young lives are needlessly wasted and lost. And this my be due to rotten leadership in the community. They value death more than life. I just happened to be there to observe the youngsters yesterday engaged in play and rites of passage that can only be described as likely to result in great bodily harm, serious injury or even, God forbid, death.
Verbal warnings alone are insufficient for pay attention to.
There has to be frequent drill and practice, frequent reminders, and recitation until the youngsters can recall no matter where they are and even if adults are not around, what to do to escape, avoid, circumvent, and distance themselves from peril every time they encounter. Often youngsters, for some reason, just do not recognize peril and danger when they encounter it or when they themselves create a dangerous and perilous situation. It's no good fussing at them, they just cannot see it, they cannot see the forest for the trees, they cannot see the difference between the figure and the background, they cannot recognize intrigue, or conspiracy, or sedition, or villainy. Youngsters are vulnerable and must be protected and kept safe.
I have observed there are adults who look on the outside just beautiful and smart but they capitulate with their evil inclinations not knowing the difference between right or wrong, good or evil.
At another point along the way, a pale White man, skinny, all dressed in black who seemed to be mentally prompting two other young men of color to jump down on to the train tracks to retrieve an object that they saw there.
I requested assistance because I did not want anyone to get hurt trying to retrieve a worthless piece of personal piece of property. The property can be replaced, the persons life and health may not be if there is irreparable injury.
I saw men smirking as they saw someone inadvertently moving toward a possibly dangerous situation.
For a vulnerable lady like myself a Crisis is big thing. I usually tend to believe that there is something more that I must learn in order to get relief by finding a solution to the Crisis.
I realize that styles of Human Resource Management differ. I am also aware that there are opposing and conflicting and disputing forces trying to manage and govern the community, the city, the county, the state and the nation. I am aware that there are exceedingly powerful forces who are dogmatic about getting control of people, money, territory, the constructed world. I am aware that these forces are sometimes inhospitable.
I think that their inhospitable attitudes stem from vanity. These forces flatter themselves that people will find them irresistible.
I am in my home. I was awakend because even in my sleep my defenses are up and I sense that someone regards me as an Omen.
I am aware that "shepherds" are doing what shepherds do for a living. The "shepherds" automatically try to herd a stray sheep and shepherds will try to rescue a lost sheep or a sheep in peril. Sheep aref domestic food animals for hungry wolves. Lost sheep are a liability ands a sheep in a crisis situation is a liability because at some risk to himself the shepherd is attempts to get the sheep out of danger. People are sometimes like sheep. Sometimes I really can't sort our who is the shepherd who protects and defends and
rescues the sheep, and who is the wolf who wants to goble up the vulnerable sheep if he finds an opportunity.
My confidence has been shaken recently by a "Wolf in Sheeps clothing". I regarded these as Shepard's but they turned out to be wolves instead. Imagine my surprise. So now I have to regroup and make an appraisal of scenario.
Yesterday, Tuesday I attended a Los City Council Meeting just as a spectator. That is my only activity there. Just to be there and observe informally.
I was so vulnerable when I lived on the Westside. I was so happy-go-lucky, such a foolish person, such a congenial and convivial and hospitable person. I had rather permissive parenting
because it was believed that the neighborhood was convivial and congenital and kind and so we did not realize just how terribly vulnerable we were.
Yesterday at the City Council Meeting I could tell that a group of LAPD police officers who were there were unmoved in their rotten, low and uncharitable, and inhospitable attitudes towards African American women and men. Which is an exact parallel of the Nazi attitude toward Jews, or the Anglo attitudes towards Indians in India, or the Israeli attitude toward Palestinians. The basis of this attitude is commerce. They make their living off of the crises in the African American community. It an economic market issue that The Supply and Demand rules the Market. Even if the produce or commodity is bad, and destructive, if it shows a profit of increased revenues, there will be an increased demand. LAPD police officers thrive on devouring vulnerable people. The only thing to do is to irredicate vulnerability and institute invincibility.
How can a person be made invincible invulnerable to the hungrt Wolves which are the police and others within like them with same inhospitable attitudes. I think that the answer is in linking up individually and independently with higher management authority administration through correspondence providing feedback observations and evaluations of your own.
You can't sit around waiting for people who have their own interests to look after to do what you can do for yourself. I just don't care for dependency. I think dependency is dangerous. And dependency is the kind of economic style the haves get richer while the indigent get poorer.
Sunday's gospel reading was about the rich man and Lazerous.
