In further development on the suspension 'front', the sports ministry today derecognized the boxing as well as archery federations. The government acted tough after the International Olympic Committee had suspended the Indian Olympic body and the World boxing body had suspended the India Boxing federation. Speaking to media persons at a press conference in New Delhi, the sports minister Jitendra Singh announced the government's decision. He also said that they have given the boxing body 15 days time to confirm that they will have a re-election. The IBA has suspended the IABF alleging "possible manipulation" in its recent elections but the body has denied the charge, insisting that the process was "transparent".
