Sectarian violence in Karachi

Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan, no longer reflects the country's affluence. It is rather fast becoming the home of the Taliban, criminal gangs and hooligans and is witnessing religious, sectarian and ethnic strife. In 2012, till late November, violence had claimed 1,938 lives. With the election due in 2013, it is predicted that bloodshed could worsen as armed wings of political parties battle for control of the city.
