It was an eventful start to our Spirit of Giving Food Drive as the Goodman Theatre's ''A Christmas Carol'' star checks in, and Bank of America donates the equivalent of a million meals.
randy: ALL wind farms are used to back up an electrical grid that burn FOSSIL fuels. There isn't any other way. The wind doesn't always blow enough to run these machines so they are used as a back-up to existing electrical grids. They also kill A LOT of wildlife, take up A LOT of land, can only be put into relatively un-populated areas, are terribly expensive, are highly inefficient (about 59%), and require government subsidies in order to exist (which means your tax dollars). They aren't necessarily a bad idea but they aren't a good one either.
