Police shot and killed a man they say lunged at them with a knife in a confrontation that began in Times Square and drew officers and spectators on a chase that ended with shots fired near one of New York's most crowded tourist areas. (Aug. 12)
Tyrano: Perhaps it’s time to think about how well Progressive policies and practices are working out for the Black community. After all that is where Progressive thought and policies have been most thoroughly realized. Progressive/Democrat policies and ideas - abortion on demand, the Murphy Brown syndrome – marriage is irrelevant and an anachronism (curiously gay marriage seems an exception), single parenthood is the way of the future, the “Great Society” and “War on Poverty” with their financial incentives for more (unwanted) children and for welfare as a way of life, etc. have all had consequences that have been anything but positive for the Black community. The most damaging clearly have been the denigration of marriage and family. In the ‘60s most Blacks had 2 parent families. However, after 50+ years of increasingly Progressive government policies today: • Almost 30% of US welfare recipients are Black • Over 70% of Black children live in single parent homes • Clearly most Black fathers have little to no involvement in raising their children • Black high school dropout rate is over 30% • Black unemployment rate is twice the white unemployment rate • Over 30% of US abortions are in the 13% of the population that is Black • Black incarceration rates are massively high • And a major Black Community problem is young Black males killing young Black males. Oh but from the Progressive perspective everything’s roses – after all Blacks overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Something to think about - a single parent making say $25,000 a year has $25,000 and 24 hours a day to spend on parenting and personal and family needs. Two parents each making $25,000 a year have $50,000 and 48 hours a day to spend on parenting and personal and family needs.
