The day began with a morning swearing-in ceremony for Vice President Joe Biden, committing him to four more years as the nation's second in command. (Jan. 20)
DS: When it comes to immigration, nobody has a problem with that for the vast, vast majority of people. It is the illegal aliens that are the contentious "immigration" problem. And yes, illegal alien is the correct legal term. Immigrants (and non-immigrants) are by definition people who were legally given permission to be here. Illegal aliens were not given or lost legal reason to be here and deliberately chose to violate our laws. So the media and interest groups need to stop the intentional clouding of the problem. Immigration and bringing in people we need versus people who intentionally decided to violate our immigration laws are two different issues. Yes, we need actual immigrants, especially with the Baby-Boomer glut and its demographic challenges. We do not need opportunists who intentionally break our laws for their benefit (both the illegal alien and the business). If low cost labor is needed, do it legally and fine the hell out of companies who intentionally use illegal aliens, which should basically be treated as human trafficking. If a company wants to bring in labor, they need to sponsor the people, then they must prove the person exited or extended at the end of the work-visa or be fined or prosecuted.
