Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, 76, of Argentina has been elected pope. He is the first pontiff from the Americas
Tom-VA: Every four years we go through the same thing, although not as much when one party's candidate is the incumbent. Candidates promise to fight for us, to right all wrongs, and to leap tall buildings in a single bound, We pick one and by the end of one term there are new challengers promising the same things because all of those promises the last one made couldn't be achieved. This year we'll hear Hillary talk about how she's going to change things, hoping that we'll forget that she was part of the outgoing administration and so tightly tied to the status quo that her party rigged the primaries so that she could win. Trump is so disliked by the GOP that he hasn't received endorsements by two former Presidents, the Speaker of the House, and his closest rival, so how much cooperation can we expect him to receive from Congress should he be elected. In other words, one candidate won't change things and the other one won't be able to. Oh well, maybe Bill and Hillary will end up on Divorce Court if they actually have to live under the same roof again..
