The sequester cuts in Washington are affecting how the U.S. District Court in Nebraska handles federal cases involving sex trafficking, drugs and immigration in the state.
Rich: Another thing that grinds my grits; in both conventions, they showed a commercial for rethinking high school education - as if some sort of method is the answer instead of buckling down and studying. A friend of mine told me about someone he knew who got hired by the Chicago Public School. On the first day, he taught high school, the principal told him that he shouldn't expect much, as many of the kids were reading at a third grade level. His friend lasted two months. It seems like "reading, writing and arithmetic," are no longer necessary. Here's what I think - again I come from 9 children. First off, I had a mom who read to us all the time when we were young. And I can still see several of my brothers and sisters all gathered around the kitchen table doing our homework. maybe doing homework is a good place to start. You can't learn thru osmosis or by sitting in front of a TV, errr, excuse my ignorance, large screen.
