Local police chiefs are fighting back against a proposal to allow Mainers to carry concealed weapons without going through a permitting process. WMTW News 8's Paul Merrill reports.
Jason: Our current immigration policy is one of unearned favoritism. My friends from Europe cannot come to America, work illegally, and stay without repercussions. They are mores educated, more valuable, and don't ruin the unskilled labor market by willing to work for wages that a person paying taxes and buying health care cannot survive on. Why do Mexicans and Guatemalens deserve favoritism in immigration when people who bring valuable skills and higher cultural compatibility are penalized because they are forced to come here via legal means? If we are going to have unchecked immigration, then let's do it for countries that provide people of value to our nation. We don't need people who are going to drive down wages in our blue collar work force. Automation is doing that already.
