Legislative Staffer Fired For Plagiarizing Teen Writer

WGN - Chicago

A New York legislative staffer for Senator Greg Ball was fired after issuing a memo on banning killer whales from New York aquariums that plagiarized a Chicago high school student`s Huffington Post piece on killer whales. The Times-Union of Albany found nearly identical passages between the bill and a commentary on the film Blackfish by 17-year-old Donald Julius, a junior at Chicago`s Lindblom Math and Science Academy.
